Are You a Consumer or a Producer

We live in a world where we are constantly encouraged to consume more. The type of adverts that we see on a daily basis both on TV, on the billboards, on the radio, and the internet, attest to this. All of these are tools that advertisers use to encourage you and I to consume whatever they have to offer. They do this without asking for your permission and without even knowing whether you need it or not. Despite all that they still encourage you to consume their stuff.

I do not have a problem with advertisers personally, i think they are doing what is supposed to be their job, and that is what they are paid for. The challenge at times is when they want me to consume something without first asking if i need it or not. And this is the nature of advertisement with all the guerrilla marketing techniques just to get a sale from you.

Once you come to the internet the issues goes to another level, with the amount of information that abounds online you can even get an indigestion if you do not know what you are looking for and what to do with it. And this is what the internet is, a place to share, produce and consume information. And I do not have a problem with it at all.

That brings me to the subject of this article, where do you fit in this whole scenario, are you among those that produce or among those who consume. When it comes to commodities, unfortunately there is only these two sides of the coin. You are either producing or consume. You are among those who produce to change the world and make an impact, or are among those who don’t care about changing the world, but just want to consume.

We live in world of consumerism, and I do not see anything wrong with consume information if at the end is for you to have something that online injectable steroids will enable you to produce more. The problem is when you just consume, consume, and consume more without ever doing anything with what you have consumed.

The world is filled with consumers and consumers do not change the world, it is producers who do. We need more producers to make an impact and a difference in the world. If is true that if we produce somebody has to consume right? That is true, because you can never be a producer if you do not consume first. Because whatever we produce in life is the total of what we have consumed from others, distilled in our unique way.

First Consumers, Then Producers

In order to be effective producers we must first be consumers, however, the difference lies in the fact that a producer consumes information strategically. The producer consumes what he needs to achieve the results that he sets to achieve. Whereas the consumer is somebody just consumes everything he finds and is given.

A producer does not just consume anything, he thinks strategically about every piece of information and how it fits in his/her overall project. He goes on a frantic search to whatever is going to add value to what he is doing. He knows how to sift between the precious and the non precious. He knows the difference between the good and the necessary.

The producer is a strategic thinker who knows what to take and what to leave. He does not bow to the marketing gimmicks of urgency used by marketers. He is does not go looking for fads, he knows what works and what doesn’t work for whatever he is set to do.

We Are Called to Be Producers

The overall goal of humans is to be productive in life, you should be productive. Productivity is a demand placed on every human living in this planet. Our dignity as humans is in the fact that we can create and produce stuff that can change people’s lives. From the moment we stop producing our vitality is put into question, because every living thing must produce. That is the law of nature.

The Quality of What We Produce

It is not enough to produce stuff, because you are not judged by what or how much you have produced, but by the quality of your products. That is why people will remember you by the quality or lack of quality of what you have produced. And while there is room for the economy of scale, we must make sure that we do not compromise in the quality of the product.

Unfortunately, this is something that most people forget to do, especially when in a frantic search to get whatever we produce to the most amount of people as possible. Toyota had to pay a heavy price for this when it was forced to recall millions of its vehicles due to some sort of malfunctioning of one of its parts/functionalities. And this happened more than once.

Unfortunately, if you trade ideas and information like some of us do, you cannot recall these from the people who have who consume your stuff. That is why prudence and the highest standard of content production is demand of all content producers to adhere to.

From Consumer to Producer

To those who are still on the consumer end, perhaps its time to turn into a producer and make a difference in the world. The world will not remember you for how much you have consumed, but for how much you have produced. So make the shift now and bring some dignity to your life.

It is such a rewarding thing to be a productive person and start to create stuff that people can be proud of. Begin to create and produce something of value, turn all the information that you have consumed over the years, and that you still consume into something valuable to society. I assure you, you will not regret, In fact you will sleep in peace for doing that.

As for me, i have made a decision that i am going to empty myself of all that God has given me and all that i have to make the world a better place. Now it’s your turn, what is it going to be? Are you a producer or a consumer, the choice is yours, so choose wisely.
